Wallington Post Office to move into WHSmith
Wallington Post Office is going to be moved into WHSmith as part of the latest round of franchising.
The post office, in Ross Parade, is set to move into WHSmith’s shop in Woodcote Road.

In the summer Sutton Council carried a motion opposing the Post Office proposal to downgrade the Wallington Crown Office.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has led a series strikes against the Post Office’s plans to franchise 70 Crown offices. They said they will be liaising with Sutton Council to put pressure on the Post Office to reverse their position.
CWU spokesperson Ian Ward said: “We have grave concerns over WHSmith taking on a further post offices like Wallington.
"They have been responsible for the loss of two post offices in recent months because they closed their shops – one in Runcorn where the service ended up in the back of a Tesco and the other in Grays, Essex, where the service is still being temporarily run out of a council office building.
"In both cases customers were left in the lurch with no services for a period of time. These cases show the uncertainty of hiving off Crown post offices to large chain stores and alike”.
There will be a six-week public consultation on the proposals ending on November 25.
