A knife-wielding man was Tasered by police in the street and arrested for attempted murder after a dramatic rampage in Battersea yesterday.

Police said the suspect threatened firefighters and when officers arrived he was involved in a violent confrontation, banging on a police car window and injuring an officer.

The man, aged 26, was first reported by firefighters from Battersea station after they heard a commotion on Falcon Road, near Clapham Junction station, at just after noon on Sunday, November 10.

Officers used a Taser to carry out the arrest and the man was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Four knives were recovered at the scene.

One police officer received minor cuts to his hand during the restraint of the suspect. He did not require hospital treatment.
