A motorcyclist who died after a collision involving a lorry has been named locally as Shawnn Swaby.

Mr Swaby was knocked from his motorbike on Roman Way, Croydon, at about 9.30am on Saturday, November 9.

Police, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended the accident, but the 38-year-old, who worked in finance, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Swaby's next of kin have been informed but he is yet to be formally identified.

Friends have taken to social networking sites to pay tribute to the dad-of-three.

Kafayat Toks Timson, who used to work with Mr Swaby at the former Wendy's Burger shop in North End, said: "I am going to miss his cheeky grin so much, he was a really nice guy - a character to work with.

"Shawnn had nothing but love and always had a hug ready for me.  I can't believe I am not going to see him any more.

"He is gone but never forgotten - he will always be an ace mate to me."

Another friend James, who runs Direct Image barber shop said: "Shawnn was a funny person, he was always making jokes. He was the type of person that always phoned you no matter what.

"He was very loving too and would always make sure you were ok and would check up on you. We never went to the same school but we grew up together and everyone went to the same parties.

"When we used to play music or DJ, he used to try and sing. Back then we thought he was good but when we think back there, you see he was tricking us. I always wound him up about it- I'd never let it go."

Paying tribute to his close friend of 23-years, James said the accident was a real shock.

He said: "I wasn't expecting it, I was just with him Thursday. Normally on a Saturday if he is going past on his bike he would beep or stop and come over and chat, but not Saturday.

"I am going to miss him it's going to be hard, I can't believe it."

Officers from the Met Police's Road Death Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call 020 8285 1574 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
