Two bouncers who battered a man and left him unconscious after he punched their colleague have been spared jail.

Jonathan Frimpong, 23, and Trenton Gibbons, 22, were working on the doors at Chicago Rock Cafe in Sutton when they saw a 32-year-old man punch their colleague in the back of the head at 2.45am on October 7, 2012.

Gibbons, of Caesars Walk, Mitcham, and Frimpong, of Oakmead Place, Mitcham, chased the man along Throwley Road and caught up with him near Wilkinson's.

By the time police arrived the man was unconscious on the ground with a range of injuries including cuts and grazes and a severe swelling to his right eye.

The pair were arrested and taken to Sutton police station. They admitted restraining the man but denied being responsible for his injuries.

But they were found guilty of the attack and sentenced to each do 150 hours of community service and pay £60 victim surcharges at Croydon Crown Court on Monday, November 4.

The 32-year-old victim had been ejected from the club for taking a photo of a drunk woman, pleaded guilty to common assault in relation to the attack on the third bouncer.

He was ordered by Croydon magistrates to pay a total of £510 in charges, fines and compensation.
