The news that Surrey Downs’ GPs have voted to walk out on the controversial Better Services Better Value (BSBV) review is making waves around the world - even in New Zealand.
Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group (SDCCG) made the shock announcement on Friday that it would withdraw from the BSBV process after its GPs, who took part in a secret ballot online, overwhelmingly rejected its proposals to axe acute services at Epsom Hospital.
By Saturday, the news had already reached people 11,000 miles away via the TopNews New Zealand news website.
With the headline, 75 per cent GPs Votes Against ‘Better Services Better Value’ Proposal, the article explained about the secret ballot and how SDCCG "will need to think about the next step".
