A new music academy was launched inside Chessington Community College this week.
Jampod Academy was opened with a bang on Tuesday following performances by music students at the Garrison Lane school.
The facility hopes to allow students in different groups to slam down on drum kits, strum guitar strings and key in notes on a keyboard without disturbing each others’ rhythms – with a little help from some headphones.
The new equipment will mean bands and students will be able to practice at the same time without being bothered by each other.

Each Jam Pod can accommodate bands of up to seven members and comprises a drum kit, keyboard, electronic hand drum, a bass and lead guitar as well as pedals, amps and microphones for singers to plug in.
The academy is a collaboration by pod creators Mix Music, Kingston Music Service and Chessington Community College with funding provided by the Humphrey Richardson Taylor Charitable Trust.
