A Cobham care home remembered Armistice Day in a very special way when a resident turned 95-years-old on the same day.
Armistice Smith, also known as Mamie, said she was “totally spoilt” by her friends and family as they joined her for an afternoon tea party at Silvermere care home.
Mrs Smith also enjoyed a poppy-themed birthday cake and a glass of sherry.
Born in Holloway, London, on November 11, 1918, Mrs Smith worked for Handley Page, an aircraft manufacturing company, and built cockpits for the Royal Air Force during the war.
Charis McKenna, recreation and leisure organiser at Silvermere care home, said: “It was wonderful to celebrate Armistice’s birthday on such a historical and memorable day.”
