Two hundred new jobs have been created as part of a huge two-year extension and refurbishment project at Wandsworth Sainsbury's.
The store, opposite Southside Shopping Centre on Garratt Lane is set to close today for a week so the final touches can be made with a launch of new homeware electrical department and the clothing range TU due on November 27.
Pete Murphy, deputy manager, said the investment created the new jobs in customer service, cafe and clothing department.
He said: "I think this is a real positive story for the area."
The existing part of the store has also been improved with the introduction of a larger range of foods including southern Asian, Polish, West Indian and kosher ranges.
The store has been on the site since 1986.
The store will be closed between November 19 and November 27.
