Kingston mayor Penny Shelton has called for more festive fun runners to raise money for one of her charities of the year.

Coun Shelton is raising cash for Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, and wants Kingston residents to join in the hospice’s annual Santa fun runs next month.

The first run takes place in Bushy Park on Sunday, December 1, with the second a week later through Richmond Park.

Last year’s events raised £41,500, and the charity is hoping to beat that target this year.

Coun Shelton said: “A close relative as well as two fellow Kingston councillors have been cared for in Princess Alice Hospice in the last year but this is not the only reason that I picked the hospice as one of my charities.

“It’s because it provides such a wonderful service to so many people and means an awful lot to them.

“I wanted to support the hospice as I was so impressed with all that it does.”
