Family and friends have paid tribute to a 47-year-old woman killed in a lorry collision.

Claire O'Hanlon, of Clarence Lane, Roehampton, died at the scene in in Danebury Avenue, Roehampton, on Friday.

Paramedics were called just before 4pm where they found she suffered a cardiac arrest, head and pelvic injuries.

A 27-year-old lorry driver stopped at the scene and was arrested for suspicion of death by dangerous driving.

He has since been bailed to appear in court at a date in January.

A huge tribute in memory of Ms O'Hanlon has been left at the scene of the incident made up of cards, flowers and notes from loved ones.

It is believed Ms O'Hanlon lived with her partner Michelle Moore and her stepchildren.

She was well known in the Roehampton and Battersea area, with a message from cab company Roehampton Cars left at the tribute.

Bottles of champagne and scones have also been left at the tribute.

Cindy Peacock, a friend, of Roehampton, said: "Everybody in Roehampton knew her. She will be missed.

"I've known her for six years, she is very friendly. Michelle her partner is devastated."

Another neighbour, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "She was a very popular, lovely girl. I saw her the day it happened only a couple of hours before."

Family and friends have also been posting tributes on a Facebook page set up in her memory.

The incident follows the death of six cyclists across the capital in a fortnight, with several deaths following collisions with HGV vehicles.

There were 109 people killed or seriously injured in collisions across Wandsworth last year.

A total of 1,013 people also suffered from slight injuries in collisions.

Earlier this year the Safer Lorries Campaign petitioned the council to implement stricter measures on HGV vehicles travelling through Wandsworth.

Last year 91-year-old Percy Hibbert was decapitated by a lorry in Tooting, while another pedestrian Awees Osman Mupe died in Balham Station Road in January this year.

The Mayor of London is campaigning for reducing casualties in London by 40 per cent by 2020, with a road strategy plan agreed on by a council committee last September.

A 20mph limit is also being adopted across Wandsworth in roads where neighbours have petitioned for the reduced speed.

National road safety week launched on Monday, with police officers stopping 70 lorries and 100 cyclists to check they were abiding safety rules.
