Sutton & Cheam Swimming Club dominated a small field to win 119 medals at the London Borough of Sutton Championships.

Leading the way against Cheam Marcuda SC and wildcard entries from Sutton High School, were William Ward, 14, and Athena Lewis Gkogka, 17, who won five gold medals each.

Sutton & Cheam won all 32 of the borough titles and gold medals on offer - in fact they won33 as two S&C swimmers, Lois Martin and Daisy Meffan, tied for first place in the girls' 13/14 freestyle.

The gala, at the Westcroft Pool in Carshalton, operated under an A and B grade system up to the age of 14 to encourage swimmers of all abilities to compete.

Kieran Rutter and April Hedges each won four gold medals, while Lois Martin won three golds.

S&C swimmers took a clean sweep of the medals in 23 events and the top two places in another six.

In two events, the boys' 11/12 backstroke and freestyle races, club swimmers took the first seven places.

Ward and Gkogka were both triumphant with a clean sweep, winning the backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and individual medley events in their respective age groups.

Kieran Rutter won four golds and one silver, while April Hedges collected four golds during the evening.

Lois Martin won three golds and one silver, Daisy Meffan won two golds, one silver and two bronze, while Harry Brown two golds. 

Nathan Eves, Lucy Pearson, Joe Phillpott-Clark, Imogen Smith, Dario Kan and Alex Wimbush all became borough champions, taking gold in their respective events.

Charlie Carr, Adam Smith, Emily Vandrau, Erin Andrew, Joseph Lenihan, Killian Courtney, Louis Meffan, Natalie Andrew, Rosie Heape, Sam Rees, Michael Rees and Tomas Gibson completed the grade A medal winners.

Grade B medals were won by Andrea Rodrigues, Andrej Drzaic, Elise Smith, Erin Andrew, Genevieve ten Have, Harry Morris, Jack Conroy, Jack Wild, Josh Eves, Kelly Bone, Lucy Cammock, Melanie Rodrigues and Spiros Gkogkas.

To crown a great night, S&C won both the relays, coming first and second in the girls' club relay, and taking the first four places in the men’s club relay.
