Leatherhead Swimming Club returned from last weekend’s “Not so early bird” meeting in Crawley with a fine haul of medals.

Leading the way in the pool was Henry Offin, 13, with four golds in the 100m backstroke, butterfly and freestyle, and the 200m individual medley - as well as silver in the 100m breaststroke.

He also picked up two new club records over the weekend in the 50m and 100m butterfly.

Jamie Wilks, 14, also got his season off to a flying start with two club records in the 100m and 200m butterfly, as well as picking up two silver medals in the 400m freestyle and 200m butterfly.

Daniel Malamud, 17, won bronze in the 50m butterfly, which has kept him on target to make his first National Championships this year.

Head coach David Vine said: "This is a great start for the club and we had great swims form all the swimmers that competed this weekend.

"The club is in heavy training at the moment and we will be looking for increased performance as we move through the season."
