A woman has successfully set a new Guinness World Record after pulling a 2.5 tonne hearse down Shaftesbury Avenue by her hair.

The ‘hairculean’ stunt saw Joanna Sawicka, from Clarence Road, Wimbledon, break the record on Monday by towing the hearse 20m down the road in under four minutes.

The former biochemistry student already holds a Guinness World Record for lifting the greatest weight with her hair by hanging upside down and lifting another person weighing 53.4kg.

The Circus of Horrors performer, who goes by the stage name Anastasia IV, came to England to study biochemistry at the City of Westminster University but abandoned her career in science and joined the circus after attending one of their shows.

She said: ‘From then on I knew I didn’t want to be a biochemist and wanted to run away with the circus.

"Not just any circus but The Circus of Horrors.

"I applied for a job and told them of my super human hair, they gave me an audition and away I went."
