Five men arrested on suspicion of assault outside a pub have been bailed.

A man sustained head injuries during the attack outside the Fox and Hounds in Walton Street, Walton-on-the-Hill, just before 1am on Friday night.

The victim in his 30s has been discharged from hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life changing.

The five men, aged 19 to 25, have been released on police bail until January 9 while police make enquiries and appeal for witnesses.

Detective Constable Steph Worrell said a private function was taking place at the pub at the time of the attack.

DC Worrell said: "Although we have already spoken to a number of witnesses I believe there are others who hold vital information which they have not yet shared with us.

"I would urge anyone who either witnessed the incident, the events surrounding it or who has their suspicions around someone they know, who may have returned home in the early hours with ripped clothing or injuries which they can’t account for to also contact officers with information.

"Incidents of this nature are rare in Tadworth and I would like to reassure the local community that we will do all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice."

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference RB/13/9333, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
