Queen of the jungle Charlie Brooks will light up Thames Ditton this Christmas.

The EastEnders actress and former I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here contestant will do the honours and switch on the village’s Christmas lights at the High Street Christmas Fair.

The fair, organised by Tracy Blatchford from Bradley and Brown, is one of the biggest event’s in the village’s calendar and is an important annual fundraising activity for the Thames Ditton High Street Retailers’ Association.

Among the activities on offer will be a hunt to find Santa’s treasure chest, a raffle to win an iPad mini and competitions to guess the reindeer’s name and decorate a bauble biscuit.

Santa’s grotto will be open throughout the day at the Micaela Cianci photography shop and plenty of street entertainment will take place, including a performance from dance group Movement Warriors.

The Christmas fair would not be complete without an abundance of mulled wine, mince pies and warming winter food, which will be available from the many cafes, pubs and restaurants.

To top off the day of Christmas fun, Charlie Brooks, who also lives in Thames Ditton, will switch on the Christmas lights, accompanied by carol singing from two local choirs.

Money from the sale of raffle tickets and other donations help fund the fair and the lights that dress the Christmas tree in the centre of the village.

Thames Ditton High Street Christmas Fair; High Street, Thames Ditton; December 1, 3pm to 6pm, lights switched on at 4.30pm at the Lime Tree.
