Police have released new information as they continue to investigate the death of 20-year-old Paula Newman in New Addington last week.

Detectives believe Miss Newman, of Beckenham, was seen near a recreation ground in Elmside, New Addington, hours after she fell from a black BMW 325 on Monday, November 11.

She died the next morning after being taken ill at a house in Dunsfold Way. Her boyfriend, 33-year-old Kane Boyce was arrested at the scene and questioned for three days.

Detective chief inspector Diane Tudway, who is leading the investigation into Miss Newman's death, today repeated an appeal for witnesses and information.

She said: "I now have information which leads me to believe that late on Monday November 11 into the early hours of Tuesday November 12, Paula was in the company of a man in Elmside, New Addington which is adjacent to a recreation ground.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen them or heard anything to contact the police.

"I am also very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen Paula getting into the Black BMW in Dunsfold Way, New Addington with a man on the evening on Monday 11 November.

She added: "I am grateful to the local community for their help so far and I wish to reiterate that any witnesses who come forward will be treated with the utmost sensitivity."

Detectives believe Miss Newman fell from the car between 8.45pm and 11.30pm, sustaining fatal head injuries.

Police today released a statement from Miss Newman's family, paying tribute to the former Glebe School pupil. 

It read: "Rest in peace Paula Louise Newman, you will be sadly missed.

"We want people to know what an amazing person Paula was. She was a funny and beautiful girl who we saw grow into a young woman.

"Paula was taken from us at just 20 years old and will be missed. She will remain in our thoughts forever and always."

Mr Boyce, of New Addington, was bailed on Friday until mid-January.
