Hundreds of families got into the festive spirit as Santa came to Epsom for the Christmas lights switch-on extravaganza last night.
Stars from Epsom Playhouse's show Santa Claus and the Christmas Adventure joined the Christmas parade led down the High Street by Epsom Rotary Clubs’ Tilly the Train.
The marketplace came alive with music, children's rides, games and activities including a giant snow globe and magic tricks. Tinsel even adorned road sweepers for the occasion.
James Peters, who was named young volunteer of the year at the Epsom and Ewell Sports Awards, turned on the Christmas tree and Clock Tower lights to applause and cheers.
A council spokesman said: "It was dynamic and really nice. There were lots of young people and babes in arms meeting Santa. People were bopping and young James did a fantastic a job turning on the lights."
Santa has now taken up residence at his grotto at the Clock Tower until Christmas Eve.
