Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding paid a surprise visit to a teenage fan receiving cancer treatment at the Royal Marsden.

Wilding made a surprise visit to The Oak Centre for Children and Young People at The Royal Marsden in Sutton on Wednesday, November 20.

Wilding came to see a patient called Tanyel Uzun, 18, who is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Unknown to Tanyel, her father had secretly arranged the visit for his daughter. Wilding and Tanyel’s father had previously attended police school in Hendon, London, together.

As soon as Wilding heard about Tanyel’s condition he arranged the visit with her dad.

He said: "I visited The Royal Marsden to surprise my friend’s daughter, Tanyel, who is being treated there. I went through police training school with her dad Jay, who asked if I could surprise her with a visit.

"She seemed in such good spirits and was clearly being so well looked after by the friendly and attentive staff.

"Whilst there I was given the opportunity to meet some of the other young patients and each and everyone of them greeted me with a beaming smile and a friendly chat which summed up the positive spirit of this amazing establishment."

Tanyel had previously meet Wilding at her father’s police passing ceremony in Hendon when she was only six years old. From then she avidly followed his career from BBC One’s Crime watch programme to Strictly Come Dancing.

She said: "I was very surprised because I wasn’t expecting anyone, I was waiting to go home from the hospital and then all I saw was Rav coming through the door.

"I felt very happy that he took time out of his busy day to come visit me. I couldn’t believe it, it was such a lovely surprise."
