X Factor finalist Hannah Barrett says she "feels good" and is looking to the future, after being eliminated from the ITV competition.

The 17-year-old from South Norwood found herself in the sing off against fellow Croydon act Rough Copy last night, and was sent home by judges Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh who cast the deciding votes.

Fans were left shocked by the results of the public vote, after Tamera Foster secured enough votes to proceed to the next round of the contest, despite forgetting the words to her song for the third time.

Hannah, an ex-Lanfranc pupil said it was "upsetting" to be sent home despite receiving consistently good feedback.

She said: "Obviously it was upsetting to know that she [Tamera] had forgotten the words and acts like me and Rough Copy, who have been consistent and not really had bad criticism were in the bottom two.

"It is tough to know that if people make a mistake they do still get through to the next round.

"People just think you are safe, if you make a mistake and have showed in the past you are strong, I think people are more likely to vote for you than if you smack it all the time."

Talking about how she feels about her elimination now, the Greggs worker said: "I am really good.

"It was emotional last night but that's how things go - you never know what the public is going to do.

"At least I came out three weeks before the final and not really early, I am so happy I had that time to enjoy myself - I had so much fun. It was a bitter-sweet moment last night.

"Everyone knows how close me and Rough Copy are, obviously we are from the same area- at least I lost the battle to them."

So what next for the teenager who won the heart of mentor Nicole Scherzinger in the early rounds of the competition?

"First is the X Factor 2014 tour. I then hope to get a record deal and I am writing my own songs as well.

"It is exciting. I have a good feeling that people will be seeing me a lot in the future."
