A man has appeared in court accused of assault and brandishing a knife during a dispute with his neighbour over a noisy 18th birthday party.

Damian Stasinski of Harry Close, Thornton Heath, pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Friday.

The court heard the 32-year-old is accused of going round to his neighbour’s house during an 18th birthday party that took place on the evening of October 5, into the early hours of October 6.

It is alleged he threatened someone with a knife because they had refused to turn down the music and his pregnant girlfriend was trying to sleep.

Mr Stasinski, who was representing himself, opted for the case to be sent to Croydon Crown Court for trial.

He will next appear in court on December 6.
