Cordon bleurgh: Insect-infested rice bags and bacteria in ready meals found in shop
Insect-infested rice bags, blood-stained walls and bacteria-ridden ready meals were found in a New Malden shop.
Safety inspectors could not trace where the ready meals were from when they visited Ayngaran Food and Wine in Burlington Road between September and December last year.
Owner Thambirajah Vaseekharan admitted 18 food safety offences and was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £1,215 costs plus a £15 victim surcharge.
Vaseekharan appeared at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on November 12 where he apologised and said he was making improvements.
