A man has been arrested after a teenager’s jaw and skull were fractured in an attack outside a chicken and pizza shop.

The 23-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after the attack at Royal Chicken in North Street, Leatherhead, on Friday night.

The 18-year-old victim, who lost at least one tooth, was assaulted while standing with friends outside the shop at about 2.20am.

He was taken to Epsom Hospital for treatment.

Police would like to trace the occupants of a red car which was parked next to the scene of the attack.

Detective Constable James Vernon said: "This was a vicious assault which has left the victim with serious injuries and although one person has been arrested in connection with the assault I still believe there are other potential witnesses who are yet to come forward.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or the events surrounding it to contact officers with information as it may prove vital to the investigation.”

Detectives and Mole Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team officers are making enquiries.

The 23-year-old man has been released on police bail until Wednesday, January 15, while the investigation continues.

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45130000951, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
