An abandoned kitten named Bethlehem is looking to find room at someone’s inn this Christmas.

The unwanted black kitten was found hiding in a shed off Mitcham Lane in Streatham and was brought to the Blue Cross animal hospital in south Wimbledon on Wednesday, November 20.

Emmeline Macedo, Blue Cross deputy nurse manager, said: "We think Bethlehem is around eight weeks old and sadly we have no idea what happened to her mum or siblings.

"She is a frightened little kitten so we are getting her used to being handled as well as treating her for fleas and worms and making sure she’s microchipped so that she can always find her way home in the future."

Should no one come forward to take her in Bethlehem, Beth for short, will be transferred to a Blue Cross rehoming centre.

The charity took in 7,044 unwanted pets between January and October this year, including 1,310 kittens.
