An adventurous feline got itself into a tricky situation yesterday morning and had to be rescued by firefighters.
The six-month-old ginger kitten tried to squeeze itself under a garden gate and, not realising it had grown since its last adventure, got stuck.
A crew from Esher fire station was called at 9.45am to come to the rescue of the frantic pet.
Ryan Tadd, a firefighter on Esher’s red watch, said: “It was a young kitten and it obviously got a bit bigger and tried to get under a gate and got a bit stuck and was a bit frantic.
“It is the sort of job we don’t generally get called to because people think it’s not our job, but obviously we are always willing to help.
“She [the owner] was not sure whether to phone us and someone else told her to. We got there and it was not too long before she was freed.”
The fire crew attended the address off Robinsway and took the gate off to free the kitten, much to her delight.
