A mother who stole a £3 pair of shoes for her toddler has been fined £90.

The 21-year-old took the shoes from the FARA charity shop in Central Road, Worcester Park, on Friday, November 29.

Staff at the shop, which supports disadvantaged children in Romania, spotted the theft and called police who arrested the woman in the British Heart Foundation charity shop nearby.

The woman was arrested for theft and admitted the offence, telling police she took the shoes for her young son.

She was given a £90 fixed penalty notice.

The shoes have been returned to the shop.
