Pick-pocket prevention was the aim of the day as police handed out anti-theft devices to shoppers last week.
Police gave out coloured cables and alarms that are designed to attach to valuables to stop thieves from being able to swipe them without their owners realising in Sutton town centre on Friday.
Shopper Jennifer Soper, 63, from Carshalton said: "I keep my money in an inside pocket but a lot of older people would really benefit from these things."
The Card Factory in the High Street has been trying to help its customers falling prey to town centre pick pockets by handing out small bells for people to attach to their purses so that they make a noise when they move.
