One of the local MPs is to deliver a stack of gifts donated by local businesses to a family in need this Christmas.

Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake asked businesses to donate food, toys and other gifts for him to deliver to a vulnerable family.

Mr Brake, who will be delivering the gifts in time for Christmas, said: "Christmas can be difficult time for many families and people often need a bit of extra help at this time of year."

"I am very touched at the response from local businesses. It’s a great example of how Christmas is a time of giving.

"I would like to thank all the businesses that responded to the appeal and assure them that their donations will go to a family who wouldn’t being having a Christmas otherwise."

Businesses that donated include Spookernox, Rhubarb and Bramley in Carshalton High Street, Scotts in Wrythe Green lane, Carshalton, Sainsbury’s Wallington and Woodcote Green Garden Centre and Nurseries in Woodmansterne Lane, Wallington.
