A charity set up in memory of former British boxing champion Gary Mason took part in London’s New Year’s Day parade.
The Mayor of Sutton Sean Brennan chose the Gary Mason Charity to represent the borough during the parade that started in Piccadilly and finished in Parliament Square.
The project, which Mr Mason set up in Sutton and dedicated himself to in the three years prior to his death, works to uplift and help people through African drumming. It has also helped disabled children, and people with learning difficulties.
The charity’s float had a swinging 60s theme incorporating elements from the Notting Hill Carnival, The Beatles, Dr Who, James Bond and Marilyn Monroe.
Approximately 80 people represented the charity. For more information visit http://lnydp.com/
