Sutton’s primary schools have been hailed as ‘particularly impressive’ by Ofsted.
The annual schools report 2012-13 published in December ranked Sutton’s schools at joint third in the whole country.
Sutton has also been ranked joint first in London.
The Ofsted report reveals Sutton’s children start out with knowledge and skills above the national average and maintain that level of attainment through to the age of 19.
86 per cent of Sutton pupils have achieved Level 4 or above in both English and Maths, a government requirement for pupils.
Councillor Dave Callaghan, chairman of children, families and education committee at Sutton Council said: “We are delighted to receive such high rankings.
“Sutton is known as a great place to bring up children and these ratings are testament to the hard work of our teachers, governors, support staff and pupils.”
