What?! The service they run is useless, today I had delays of 40mins from Gipsy Hill to Carshalton Beeches.... Finally got a train, they decide at West Croydon it'll just run fast to Sutton. They are a shambles and if anything should have the franchise removed from them.

Southern would do well in the shiny rails category. My old mum used to comment how clean and shiny the rails were. She was a hospitral cleaner and thought they must somehow have people out night toiling away with the Gumption.

The only award that should go to southern should be one for the most greedy & incompetent rail company in southern England ,, travel to & from West Sussex in the mornings & am sick to death of being ripped off & paying horrendously high prices just to have to stand up for the full 45 minute train journey .... It stinks .... Southern trains are about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike !!!!!

I have never had trouble with Southern at all- but I never travel in rush hour if I can avoid it, I try to travel either just before or just afterwards as I know that however many carriages are on a train the capacity is always going to be limited because a carriage can only have so many seats and stations can only be enlarged so much to take more carriages on each train - and as for having to use replacement buses at weekends well they have to repair their network sometime and as the rails are usually in built up areas- would you like engineering work outside your back garden in the middle of the night ? the other option would be either to close whole stretches for weeks on end to get the work all done at once or not to do anything and I don't think any option will suit everyone- and most rail companies have the same problems in built up areas- in rural areas stations may have more space to expand- but can be under used so the train companies lose money on them so have less to spend on them to either lengthen platforms or pretty them up- so either way, they will be in between a rock and a hard place as far as anyone using them is concerned

How humiliating/embarras
sing to be given token awards but none for running a good service. Same as been told at work that I look good but that I should arrive on time. I would rather keep quiet.
Thanks, jackiet32, I got a good chuckle.
Hi LibralOut, I gave up the trains 5 years ago by finding a local job. It is good to vote with one's feet :)
