Police are hunting a man who exposed himself to a 14-year-old schoolgirl in an alleyway last week.

The flasher made an inappropriate comment towards the girl while in an alleyway between the A24 and Skinners Lane, Ashtead, at 3.20pm on Thursday, January 9.

The white man, believed to be in his early 60s, left in the direction of the A24. He is described as having short grey or white hair, facial stubble, a heavy build and a southern English accent.

The man, of medium height, wore a black fleece with a zip, a brown jumper with three large buttons, grey trousers and a brown belt with a gold buckle.

Officers are keen to speak with a man seen in the area around the time of the incident who may be a potential witness.

Several adults were escorting a group of young children in the vicinity at the time.

Detective Constable Hannah Millyard said: "I would appeal to anyone who believes they know who the offender is to share this information with us as we need to find this man as soon as possible.

"Several people are believed to have witnessed the events surrounding this incident that we still need to trace.

"It could be that these people didn't realise what had happened at the time of the offence but may still hold vital information and I would urge them to contact us as a matter of urgency."

Officers from the Mole Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team are assisting detectives, carrying out enquiries and patrolling the area to reassure the public.

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference 45140002445, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
