Two men got out of their cars and started fighting in the middle of a busy carriageway on Sunday.

The road rage incident occurred at the traffic lights at Banstead Crossroads in Banstead on the northbound carriageway of the A217, at 1pm on January 12.

The drivers of a silver BMW and blue Vauxhall left their cars and were involved in an "altercation", according to a police spokesman.

A man in his 40s has been arrested and released on bail until February 17.

PC Daniel McLeod said: "This incident occurred at a very busy time of day and I am certain other motorists will have witnessed either the offence itself or the events leading up to it.

"We need to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and I urge anyone with information to share this with us."
