Most of us will be all too aware that life at the supermarket has changed a lot in recent years.

One big change on the high street has been the explosion of mini-versions of the big supermarket chains, which are designed for convenience shopping and heralded the 'self-serve' checkout in which you weigh and pay for your shopping.

But in recent years the supermarkets have introduced more and more of these self-serve checkouts into the bigger stores too.

While some will appreciate the convenience, many have encountered the same recurring issues: such as having to wait for a technician to approve certain purchases; being stuck behind shoppers who seem incapable of using them quickly; or the machine not recognising the weight of a particular product.

So what do you think of them? Convenience or more trouble than it is worth?

Let us know if you would like to see more or less of self-serve checkouts by having your say and taking part in the poll.
