A man has been banned from pubs in Cobham because of his persistently abusive and nuisance behaviour.

Andrew Walker, 51, of Hogshill Lane, Cobham, was handed an antisocial behaviour order at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 5, which will last until the same date in 2017.

Walker was said by police to have had a “significant impact on the community of Elmbridge” and was banned from several pubs along with being prevented from having open alcohol in public.

Under the conditions of his Asbo, Walker is not allowed to use abusive, offensive or threatening language or behaviour in a public place in Elmbridge.

He is also prohibited from entering the Fairmile, the Old Plough, the Plough, Cricketers, Cedar House Hotel, El Torito, Running Mare, Loch Fyne and the Old Bear, as well as being in possession of any alcohol which is open or has a broken seal in public in the borough.

Walker is also banned from entering the grounds of Churchfield House, Lushington Drive.

Sergeant Mark Bracknell, from the Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Mr Walker’s behaviour has not only caused distress and upset to his victims but also had a detrimental effect on the local community as a whole.

“I hope the action taken against Mr Walker demonstrates that Surrey Police will not tolerate anti-social behaviour and reinforces our commitment to ensuring Elmbridge remains a pleasant place to live and work.

“Anyone who would like to discuss antisocial behaviour in their area is urged to contact their Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 so appropriate action is taken.”

Anyone who witnesses Walker breaching his Asbo conditions should contact Surrey Police on 101.
