Major car park improvements are set to go ahead at St Helier Hospital.

A new one-floor car deck will be built at the hospital, providing about an extra 100 spaces, after Sutton Council granted planning permission.

Work has already started and it is hoped the car deck will be fully operational by the end of March.

Chief executive Matthew Hopkins said: “With the re-location of some services from Sutton Hospital to St Helier, car parking spaces have been a little squeezed and we are delighted to be able to offer visitors, patients and staff extra car parking facilities which we hope will make journeys to and from the hospital smoother.

"Work is also ongoing to Epsom Hospital to optimise a number of car parking spaces.”
