Work is underway to prevent flooding in vulnerable spots as heavy rain is set to continue over the weekend.
People living in flood prone areas including Carshalton and Hackbridge have been warned to make sure they are prepared for the rising waters, while Sutton Council takes preventative measures.

Recent heavy rains have swollen the Wandle and other waterways in the area causing isolated floods, including water to run over the road in Carshalton High Street.
But the council said it has been working to make sure it lowers the risk to people in the area.
Workers have blocked an outlet that lets water flow out of Carshalton ponds into an inlet under the High Street meaning water remains in the ponds.
Since the work was carried out, the high street has not flooded.
The council is also monitoring water levels around two Carshalton schools.
It arranged for water to be drawn from Wrythe Lane after the rain caused surface water to collect in the road and outside Carshalton High School for Girls.

The council is also working with All Saints Carshalton CE Primary School to monitor the level of the adjacent Grotto canal, the original source of the Wandle prior to it being diverted.
Niall Bolger, Chief Executive of Sutton Council, said: "Everyone would have seen the news about the devastating effect of flooding and our sympathy goes out to all those affected.
"We all need to be vigilant and do our part in informing the Environment Agency of any flooding problems and of course to be prepared ourselves.
"All of the agencies are working hard to reduce the flood risk in Sutton as much as we can and so far we have been largely unaffected.
"That situation can change very quickly so it is important residents monitor the Environment Agency website updates."
Although Sutton has not been badly affected by the weather so far, the Met Office has issued yellow warnings for both rain and wind today, tonight and tomorrow.

More than 2,300 homes in the borough are at risk of flooding, according to the Environment Agency.
Most of these are close to the Wandle in Carshalton, Hackbridge and Beddington.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for the areas near the Wandle as river levels are expected to rise under the pressure of between 20mm and 30mm of rain today and more tomorrow.
People are advised to avoid flooded areas and keep children and pets away from the waters, to wash their hands if they come into contact with the water as it may be contaminated, not to walk or drive through flood waters and to keep an eye on weather forecasts.

Street flooding caused by overflowing drains can be reported to the council via its website, where flood advice is also available.
Sutton Council is responsible for managing flood risk from surface water, groundwater and ordinary watercourses.
The Environment Agency is responsible for flood protection from canals and rivers and Thames Water is responsible for the drains and sewerage system.
