A burglar armed with an axe confronted a teenager in his home on Valentine’s Day, according to police.
The 19-year-old was threatened by the intruder on his staircase at his home in Epsom Road, Leatherhead, at about 2.45pm.
Police said the burglar stole a designer watch.
A man in his 20s was arrested a short time later.
Jamie Robert Funnell, 28, of Daymerslea Ridge, Leatherhead, has been charged with aggravated burglary and appeared at South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
He was released on court bail to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, March 7.
