A dinner lady with a difference will be aiming to show that her school lunches are a cut above the rest next week.
Sarah Triptree, who works at Cheam Common Junior School, has made it to the final of the London School Chef 2014.
To win the title she will have to beat competition from seven other school chefs and impress a panel of judges - which includes school children.
Ms Triptree will be cooking two courses - an Asian-inspired Malaysian beef stew with a pineapple and red pepper salad and basil rice followed by a coconut tapioca topped with mango.
The contest will take place at Croydon College and has been organised by the Lead Association for Catering in Education (LACA).
LAXA chairwoman Anne Bull said: "Parents and the wider community should be reassured that our talented front line staff in schools not only prepare tasty, innovative and creative dishes to tempt the taste buds of discerning children and young people but also nutritious school meals that can make a major contribution towards altering eating habits, improving diets and decreasing obesity levels."
The contest takes place on Thursday.
