This week I received the Conservative party’s leaflet offering me £25 back from Croydon Council.
Do they think I’m so stupid as to fall for this cynical ploy to buy my vote?
How is it possible they have spare money when they have made cut after cut to local services and claimed to be so poor they had to sell off Croydon’s art treasures?
Their reason for not spending the spare £3m or so is that “once it’s gone, it’s gone.” Kind of like the essential services and community groups that have been lost to the cuts.
Like a lot of people I’m struggling financially but I would much rather the money was spent on any number of things that need doing in the borough from repairing pots holes to helping people affected by flooding.
I hope others are able to see through a party who have been calculating enough to withhold money from community groups and services in order to bribe the electorate.
This is the same party who made election promises last time to oppose a waste incinerator and then voted it through.
