VIDEO: 'Please give me a good home' - Abandoned dog found with note tied round neck in Carshalton
A friendly dog who ‘just wants to be cuddled’ was abandoned by her owners and tied to a tree with a note around her neck.
Trixie was found by a member of the public on Friday, February 21, tied up near the River Wandle, in Buckhurst Avenue, Carshalton.
They brought her straight into the Riverside Animal Centre in Beddington where she will be vaccinated and looked after until a new home is found.
Centre manager, Ted Burden, said: “She’s a very nice dog. She had a plastic bag tied to her collar with a little note. It said ‘please give me a good home’.
“We have no idea how long she had been there – but somebody happened to come across her.
“She comes over to you and sits there and just wants to be cuddled – she is a nice dog.
“The vets have had a look at her but are struggling to tell how old she is – it’s anything between two years and nine years. We think she’s three or four and she seems to be in good condition.”
Mr Burden warned that people abandoning dogs was becoming an increasing problem and said: “It is becoming quite an issue – it’s not just her. It is increasing. Sometimes it is just down to money and sometimes it is circumstances.
“It is very distressing for dogs – they are more sensitive than people realise.
“All we would say is anyone considering taking on a dog to understand the finances.”
A puppy, which the centre has named Frankie, was also dumped in a park at the beginning of last week.
Little Frankie has a leg problem but they are hoping vets will be able to help him without surgery.
