A schoolgirl from Carshalton has won a national contest by inventing a milk bottle for babies that controls its own temperature.
Danielle Miller, 13, beat 520 entries to become one of seven winners in the We Made It invention competition and will see a prototype of her design showcased at an awards ceremony in parliament during March.
The Stanley Park High School pupil said: "I have family members who have babies and I was thinking about products that could be helpful to them.
"The project was challenging but enjoyable. I am proud of my design and excited to see it come to life."
We Made It is a contest for 11-to-14-year-olds where winning designs for gadgets, toys and tools are produced by Fab Labs, a digital fabrication company with plants as far afield as Manchester, Glasgow and Belfast.
Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake visited Danielle to congratulate her.
He said: "Britain desperately needs more young people aspiring to high-level manufacturing jobs. Competitions like We Made It enable young people to realise their potential."
