A robber assaulted a delivery driver and snatched bags of cigarette boxes from the back of a lorry.

The man climbed up the tail lift, pushed past the driver and grabbed three large bags at the Shell garage in Brighton Road, Burgh Heath, on February 18.

He threw the bags to an accomplice standing behind the lorry. There was a scuffle with the driver before the man jumped off.

He then got into a silver Ford Mondeo with a third man and drove off along the A217 towards Sutton.

The robber was white and clean shaven and of average to stocky build.

He is about 5ft 8in man, in his mid-20s to early 30s, and spoke with an Irish accent. He wore a dark top while his accomplice wore a cream-coloured one.

Detective Constable Kerry Akehurst said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the offence or in the days leading up to it to contact officers with information."
