Surrey’s mental health, learning disability, drug and alcohol services staff have given their employer some of the top scores in the country in the latest NHS Staff Survey.

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating its best results to date in the eleventh national survey, published on Tuesday, February 25.

The survey collects the opinions of NHS staff on a range of issues such as training, job satisfaction, violence, abusive behaviour and work-related stress.

More than two-thirds of the trust's scores were rated above average or among the best mental health and learning disability trusts in the country.

Particular highlights included employees' higher than average levels of motivation, job satisfaction and feeling they can contribute to improvements at work.

Fiona Edwards, the trust's chief executive, said: "I am delighted with this year’s results, which are undoubtedly our best yet.

"While working long hours may at first appear a cause for concern, it is important to note that many of our employees choose to work paid additional hours but the scores make no distinction between paid and unpaid additional work.

"And while work pressure may seem to be a problem, it is encouraging that our staff report extremely low work related stress compared to others elsewhere which indicates they are coping well."
