Primary school children have been busy gathering books to send to children in Africa.

Cuddington Croft Primary School, in Cheam, has been helping the charity Hope4Malawi with their Gift of Reading project.

The school is raising funds to supply books for a library in a new classroom block at Mpemba School, near Blantyre.

The books will be taken to Malawi by minibus on a journey expected to  take about three months.

Scott Maclean, the headmaster at Cuddington Croft Primary School, said: “Supporting the work of Hope 4 Malawi is a wonderful opportunity for the children at Cuddington Croft to gain a wider global perspective whilst being involved in something inspirational.

“Our children love to hear about the school in Mpemba and looking at the pictures of the children we are supporting is always a joy.

"I am also very grateful to the parents at Cuddington Croft for the generous way that they support our involvement with the charity.”
