Eagle eyed police officers spotted a man who was wanted for criminal damage and found him carrying a stash of stolen sat navs.

Police wanted to speak to Timothy Street, 32, after he kicked in the door of his girlfriend's house in Waltham Road, Carshalton, on Friday.

Officers were called to a disturbance in the early hours of the morning but  when they arrived Street had fled the scene.

Police remained on the lookout for him and he was spotted in nearby North Street at 4.15am the following day. When he saw police he tried to throw a bag over a wall.

The offices apprehended him and recovered the bag that contained five sat nav systems, a pair of white earrings, a yellow and white elephant-shaped pendant and two bottles of perfume.

It also contained gloves and a torch. Street was also found to have a small quantity of amphetamines, £63 in cash and a child's push bike with him.

Street, of Wigmore Road in Carshalton, was remanded in custody after pleading guilty to two charges of handling stolen goods, one of possession of class B drugs and one of criminal damage. He will be sentenced at a date yet to be set.
