A Thames Ditton chef has hopes of setting up her own cafe after finishing a delectable fourth on The Taste.

Chloe Campbell, 24, made it to the final of the Channel 4 show on Tuesday evening, but was devastated to miss out on the final challenge.

The four remaining cooks celebrated making it through to the final show by cooking a canapé to go with champagne with their mentors, with chef Pierre Koffman picking his favourite two.

Miss Campbell and cafe chef Dixie, 25, missed out on the top spots and went head-to-head for their place in the final three by cooking a classic ham and cheese omelette.

Miss Campbell said her lack of classical training let her down, with her dish not what the mentors were expecting.

Miss Campbell said: “I was gutted because the whole way through I couldn’t believe I was still in the competition. I only really thought I had a chance when I got to that final, then it was gutting – I was obviously really upset. I am still proud of how I did it is just upsetting being so close and not having the chance to cook the final three things.”

The final 12 contestants, who were judged weekly by Nigella Lawson, Anthony Bourdain and Ludo Lefebvre, cooked a variety of dishes throughout the show, with Miss Campbell’s favourite the blood pudding she cooked with her mentor.

Along with making new friends with the same passion, Miss Campbell said being mentored by Ludo Lefebvre was one of the best parts of the show.

She said: “I am somebody that is always cooking and watching all the cooking programmes and learning from him was definitely my highlight.”

Miss Campbell now has her sights set on working with food.

She said: “I have always known I wanted to do something with food and it [the show] has made me realise I have to do something with it because it will make me extremely happy. I don’t know what it is yet but I know I will do something 100 per cent.

“I just need to get my dreams together. I would like to set up a cafe as it is my style of food.”

The support from people on Twitter helped the self proclaimed home chef throughout her time in the competition.

Miss Campbell said: “I want to say thanks to everyone who supported me. It made it a lot more enjoyable and I had some lovely comments.”
