These four adorable puppies were abandoned on a train this morning.

The cute foursome were discovered in the toilet of a train at Sutton station this morning. The man who found them took them to Sutton police station.

The puppies

Officers believe the mixed spaniel cross puppies may have been neglected or mistreated as they were in poor condition and extremely nervous around people.

The puppies were transferred into two larger cardboard boxes to make them more comfortable for the train journey to the Riverside Animal Centre in Beddington Park where they are being checked over, treated and hopefully rehomed.

Sergeant Gavin Weldon, of Sutton police's safer parks team, said: "Cruelty to animals is unacceptable and won't be tolerated and offenders can expect to be dealt with robustly. We are working with our partners at Riverside to give these puppies the happy start in life they deserve in good homes in the borough."
