I would like to know why Croydon Council still fails to promote the Museum of Croydon (MoC), which displays 200 years of Croydon’s history, and the Riesco Gallery with Chinese Pottery, dating from 2500 BC?

The new purple/ silver signage near outside the Town Hall & Clocktower, in Katherine Street, does not list either MoC, nor Riesco Gallery, despite both being housed in the complex since the 1990s.

This is despite the fact that the Council raised more than £6 million from the controversial sale of certain pieces from the Riesco Collection last year.

It seems a missed opportunity for Croydon Council not to effectively promote the Borough’s cultural assets, like the MoC and Riesco Gallery.

Both attractions would encourage visitors to Croydon as they are interactive, suitable for children and charge no entrance fee. Also they are situated in central Croydon, near the shopping centre and business and restaurant quarter.

Surely this would be an ideal way to encourage visitors and trade in Croydon, especially after the 2011 Riots, and would help in the effort to regenerate this Borough!
