Wandsworth’s table tennis ace Aaron McKibbin may be back among the medals after winning silver at the Lignano Master Open in Italy on Saturday – but he is far from happy.
Paralympian McKibbin, 22, partnered world number one Emil Andersson from Sweden to beat Belgium and Italy 3-0 in the opening rounds.
However, a 3-2 defeat to Poland saw the pair settle for silver, leaving McKibbin disappointed.
Last year’s winner of the Wandsworth Active sports person of the year said: “I played the best I’ve ever played against Marc Ledoux [of Belgium] to beat him 3-0.
“But it was disappointing to finish by playing badly against Poland.”
He added: “It’s been a great experience to play with Emil and this tournament has highlighted a lot of things I’ve got to work on so I’ll take the positives from that.
“But in truth it has been an up and down tournament.”
The GB Para table tennis team picked up three silver medals in Italy.
