The Mayor of Reigate and Banstead opened a new school building on Friday.
Councillor Dr Lynne Hack opened the building at Priory Preparatory School in Bolters Lane, Banstead.
The Glenys Clark Building was named in honour of the previous head of pre-prep who had been at the school for more than two decades.
Saskia Jordan, marketing and development manager at the school, said: "Dr Hack remarked on how pleasing it was that we needed the building in order to cope with demand for places, and remembered the times when her son had been at the school and the connection she felt with it."
